The news that the government had approved the shipment of weapons to Eastern Europe did not cause much concern in public opinion; multiple shipments had followed each other to become a custom without further investigation into what type of weapons were sent. Unfortunately, among the arsenals destined for that region, this time there were also nuclear weapons. The specifications were added at the bottom of the communication, deliberately to hide the news from a less attentive audience.
More than all, the news began to spread in social media even if it was activated by censorship with the effect of deleting all references. The frequent visitors knew the way to overcome it, so, deliberately distorting the words, it began to spread with each of their sending.
“There is an important demonstration in Washington” Susan told the radio microphones. “We invite anyone who cares about the peace-keeping situation to participate in order to make our politicians feel dissent. Without people noticing, in a slow progression, step by step, they are leading the world to catastrophe. It’s not conceivable that a nuclear conflict could occur without the consequent expectation of the end of human survival.”
Cloudy from the director listened to Susan’s voice as she observed the enthusiasm expressed by the frantic movement of her arms while commenting on the indiscretions that had come.
“Seeing this dispatch, do you think that the other nations will remain calm and quiet without replying?” she continued. “We are not living in the time of Vietnam or Afghanistan when America had the dominance in military strategy. The enemy nations, if we can call them that, are equipped at least as well as we are. They will not stand idly by while waiting to be subdued, but will act accordingly. We must consider the current situation objectively: our economy is in a deep crisis and there is nothing more strategic for the government than pointing the finger at an enemy to blame for the economic disaster, defining it as the Evil.”
Susan had punched the table and the microphone was shaking. “It’s time to act! You can’t wait any longer! We must make our voice heard so that those weapons don’t leave our warehouses. Let’s all go back to Washington and show dissent to the politicians.”
Then followed many of calls and promises to meet up there.
